Welsh launch a Covid crackdown on football club for 'breaking crowd rules'

Chester football club was warned they may have breached Welsh coronavirus regulations when they hosted crowds at two matches over Christmas and new year. The National League North club's Deva Stadium is on the border of England and Wales, with the front gates and main office in England but the pitch in Wales. Official data show Covid cases in Wales and Scotland are increasing faster than in England despite the nations' harsher restrictions.

The Australian government gave Novak Djokovic a WRITTEN vaccine exemption because he had Covid in December, his lawyers claim - as his request for a personal chef is REJECTED at hellhole hotel with 'maggot-ridden food'

Australian government gave Novak Djokovic a vaccine exemption because he had Covid in

Djokovic's lawyers have claimed that he was granted a written vaccine exemption from the Department of Home Affairs to enter Australia without quarantine because he contracted Covid-19 last month, court documents showed. Djokovic, who is in immigration detention in Melbourne after his visa was cancelled on arrival on Thursday, returned his first positive coronavirus test last month. It also emerged that Djokovic requested a personal chef and access to a tennis court while staying in a Melbourne hotel but his demands were rejected by Australian Border Force. The World No. 1 has been told he will receive no special treatment while he remains in immigration custody at the $109-a-night Park Hotel in Carlton. Djokovic has been forced to tough it out alongside 32 other refugees and asylum seekers who have previously complained about poor living conditions.

'I'm certain my daughter came back from beyond the grave to protect our family': NICOLA HORLICK, the City Superwoman who suffers no fools, tells the most astonishing story of her life

NICOLA HORLICK: I'm certain my daughter came back from beyond the grave to protect our

NICOLA HORLICK: Georgie came back to me, not as a ghost, but as a palpable presence, as real and tangible as the child I had lost. My bedroom door flew open at 2am and there she was, beaming. A vision of health in white satin trousers and cotton shirt. Her strawberry blonde hair had grown below her shoulders; the puffiness caused by the steroid drugs prescribed to treat her illness had gone. Our eyes met and she lowered herself gently onto my bed and embraced me, hugging me tight. We lay like that for what seemed like 20 minutes and I could feel the warmth of her body. I was ecstatic.

TONY BLAIR KNIGHTHOOD CONTROVERSY

REVEALED: Newly knighted millionaire former PM Tony Blair and his wife Cherie claimed almost £80,000 in taxpayer funds to cover the wages of staff at Lady Blair's law firm

Blairs claimed almost £80,000 in taxpayer funds through furlough cash despite their

Tony and Cherie Blair (pictured) claimed almost £80,000 from the furlough scheme despite their huge wealth, which includes a £4million stately home in Buckinghamshire (inset), it has been revealed. The names of the former prime minister and his wife - rather than any specific business - appear on an updated list of beneficiaries of the taxpayer-funded programme. Set up in March 2020 to protect jobs during the pandemic, it was phased out last September after 940,000 individuals and businesses had claimed. A spokesman for the Blairs said they had taken £76,000 to cover wages of staff at Lady Blair's law firm. Money was paid to them every month the scheme operated. All businesses and individuals, whatever their financial situation, were entitled to claim the payouts to cover the wages of furloughed staff. However, thousands of organisations have since said they will pay back at least some of the money after faring better than expected through the pandemic. Wealthy individuals to be criticised over the payouts include Victoria Beckham. She reportedly reversed a decision to furlough 30 staff at her fashion label after her decision to apply for public money caused uproar.

'There was always something strange about him': How a ticket collector at London Bridge was exposed as a sadist who gladly slaughtered hundreds of his Jewish neighbours in Belarus as an SS auxiliary

How a ticket collector at London Bridge was exposed as a sadist

In 1999, at the Old Bailey, after an exhaustive and unique 28-day hearing, the ticket collector's (inset and right) own ticket was finally punched and he saw out the rest of his miserable life in prison. His case is all the more shocking as a depressing insight into how the Holocaust happened. Yes, the orders came from on high in Hitler's vile anti-Semitic regime, but carrying them out depended on the complicity and the active involvement of countless ordinary individuals like him. A small and insignificant man, Sawoniuk suddenly found himself - as the judge in his trial noted - 'a lord and a master' with the power of life and death over others in his community, and he used it with bestial ruthlessness and unremitting cruelty.

Woman hurls racist abuse at comedian Romesh Ranganathan during show by 'calling him a "hip hop coconut"' before being EJECTED from the venue by security

Romesh Ranganathan was reportedly subjected to vile racial abuse from a woman during his comedy gig at London's Hammersmith Apollo on Thursday night. The comedian, 43, was forced to stop the show and apologise to other audience members as the woman stood up from the crowd and heckled him, with the star forced to ask security to intervene. In shocking video footage, the abusive woman is then seen being ejected by guards and escorted out of the venue, as the delighted audience chanted 'cheerio!' at her.

CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Unvaccinated doctor challenges Sajid Javid over compulsory jabs for NHS staff and tells him he doesn't want a vaccine because he 'has had COVID, and feels protected by antibodies' after working in ICU for years

Steve James, a consultant anaesthetist at King's College Hospital in London, who has worked in the ICU since early 2020 treating Covid patients, told Sajid Javid why he did not believe in vaccination. In a video (main) released by Sky News, the doctor told Mr Javid: 'I had COVID at some point, I've got antibodies, and I've been working on COVID ICU since the beginning. 'I have not had a vaccination, I do not want to have a vaccination. The vaccines are reducing transmission only for about eight weeks for Delta, with Omicron it's probably less. And for that, I would be dismissed if I don't have a vaccine? The science isn't strong enough.' The Health Secretary politely expressed his disagreement and urged the public to get boosted during his visit. He said: 'I respect that, but there's also many different views. I understand it, and obviously we have to weigh all that up for both health and social care, and there will always be a debate about it.'

'We have Covid...shhhh': American traveler catches a fellow airplane passenger texting a friend that she has coronavirus and decided to fly home while infected

Traveler catches a fellow airplane passenger texting a friend that she has COVID

A Reddit user shared a photo of the woman in front of her texting someone. 'We have Covid... shhh,' the woman had typed. 'That's why we're returning home a day early. On the plane...' The Redditor was clearly unhappy that the woman, who had long nails and bleach-blonde hair, knowingly exposed others. Commenters said the Redditor should have told a flight attendant, while some insisted they shouldn't have looked at someone else's phone.

Shopping is RISKIEST activity for getting Covid - and going to pub carries same risk as using public transport, SAGE warns

Shopping is RISKIEST activity for getting Covid

A SAGE study has found that shopping was the riskiest activity terms of possibly catching Covid in England and Wales but going to the cinema, or having a haircut and eating outdoors carried no significant risk. However the risk of testing positive after going inside a pub for a pint a few times a week, about 1.3 times higher than not, was the same as frequently taking public transport. The analysis from SAGE's Virus Watch Study examined the regular activities of more than 10,000 people in England and Wales between September and November 2021, and if they then tested positive. They also adjusted for the individuals' age, vaccination status and what region they lived in. The time period analysed means it will not include any data from the recent Omicron wave of cases which only picked up from mid-December. Weekly shopping was by far the riskiest activity for catching Covid but surprisingly this was followed by playing sport outside, with those who did 1.36 times as likely to test positive. The SAGE researchers said this could be due in part to social activities attached to such events rather than the playing sport itself. Other higher risk activities including eating indoors in a restaurant or café, 1.3 times as likely, having to physically go to work, 1.2 times as likely, and going to the gym, 1.3 times as likely.

Did Jack Taylor, 25, fall prey to gay serial killer Stephen Port because police were bigoted - or just useless? Sisters of the murderer's final victim tell how they turned detective to finally win justice

Did Jack Taylor, 25, fall prey to a serial killer because police were bigoted - or just

In September 2015, Jack Taylor (right, centre) was raped and murdered by serial killer Stephen Port (inset), a loner with a fetish for having sex with unconscious young men. He was Port's fourth victim - in the preceding year the then 39-year-old had lured three others to his flat in Barking, East London, and administered fatal doses of the date-rape drug GHB before dumping their bodies to make it look like accidental overdoses or suicide. All the men he killed were in their early 20s and their mobile phones were missing. Astonishingly, police repeatedly refused to link the cases, insisting that the deaths were self-inflicted. It was an explanation that Jack's grieving sisters Donna and Jenny Taylor (right, pictured with Jack) could not accept. Determined to uncover the truth, they conducted their own investigations against what felt like total indifference from the very people whose job it was to pursue justice. What drove £5million cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch out of the home she swore she'd never leave? A dust-up over an extension and barbs about 'cruel people' is blamed for the influencer's relocation to Hinch Farm

Mrs Hinch moves home after swearing she'd never leave - but why?

On New Year's Day, influencer Sophie Hinchliffe (left), 31 - or Mrs Hinch, as she is known to her millions of online fans - announced the family is swapping Hinch Home (top right) for an altogether more lavish property in the country. Located nearby in the Essex countryside, the detached five-bedroom house (bottom right) that she has dubbed Hinch Farm boasts a grand wooden staircase, stables and extensive grounds laid out over 1.7 acres. The family is still in the process of moving in, but there are plans for a menagerie of animals: chickens, pigs and even alpacas. Quite an upgrade - particularly given that when Mrs Hinch and husband Jamie purchased their first house for £307,500 in 2016, they did so with a mortgage and assistance from the government's Help To Buy scheme. But almost exactly five years later, the Mail can reveal they have been able to purchase the new £1.55 million property for cash. While her followers were quick to congratulate her on the upgrade, some questioned why, given her previous pronouncements, she was leaving her original house.

Victoria Beckham harks back to her Spice Girls days in a tiny black mini dress as she joins her parents and husband David on his new £5million superyacht named Seven after his old shirt number in Miami

Victoria Beckham joins her parents and husband David on his new £5million superyacht in

Victoria Beckham harked back to her Spice Girls days as she slipped into a tiny black mini dress to enjoy a cruise on husband David's new £5million superyacht on Tuesday. The fashion designer, 47,  and her football ace partner, 46, were joined by her parents Anthony and Jackie Adams on the 93.5ft vessel, named Seven, as they prepared to set sail from where it was moored in Miami. And the superstar couple made for quite the hosts as the group were seen being served drinks on a silver tray by staff before eventually setting off on a sunset mini-cruise on the Florida Keys aboard the Italian-made Riva Argo.

The story behind a toxic divorce that left even the judge horrified: Thirty-four court hearings, £2.3million spent on lawyers and a pittance left for their children

The 'nihilistic' divorce battle so ruinous even the judge was left horrified

Captain Paul Crowther, 54, said said there was no way to avoid spending £2.3million on lawyers during his divorce (top and bottom right, the couple fought over assets including a mansion and a ship). When they first clapped eyes on one another at a swanky London boat party in 1994, nautical entrepreneur Captain Paul Crowther and his future wife, Caroline, (left, pictured on their wedding day) were instantly smitten. In the months and years that followed came a romantic proposal at The Ivy in London, a lavish church wedding in the shadow of Hever Castle in Kent, the birth of three children and, to cap it all, a burgeoning £10 million ship and private jet-chartering business. The gilded couple enjoyed the kind of lifestyle - think luxury ski holidays, yacht cruises, private schools, cars, horses and staff, not to mention a £7.5 million estate in the South of France - that most of us can only dream of. Fast-forward 25 years and having blown their fortune fighting each other in court, the couple's surname has become a byword for the very worst kind of divorce among the be-wigged occupants of the Family Division of the High Court in London.

Shackled killers of black US teen Ahmaud Arbery are led out of court to begin their life sentences as heavily-armed Black Panthers stand guard outside the Georgia courthouse - and two of them will die in jail

Shackled killers of Ahmaud Arbery are led out of court as New Black Panthers stand guard

Travis McMichael, his father Gregory and their neighbor William Bryan were led away from court in Georgia on Friday in handcuffs to begin their life sentences, with Travis also shackled. The McMichaels will die behind bars; Bryan will be eligible for parole in the future, at an unspecified time. During the sentencing hearing, members of the New Black Panther Party gathered outside, heavily armed, to show support for the Arbery family. Their presence during the trial was controversial, with the defense lawyer arguing unsuccessfully that it was intimidating for the jury and grounds for a mistrial.
